Alex's first T-ball game

Alexander had is first t-ball game in 40 degree weather. They are the Sharks and Alex is number 29. It was sooo cold. He started off pretty excited and happy to be there, but a little nervous.

Christophe helped coach him while he was out there. There were almost as many adults on the field as kids.

As it turns out, while right-handed, he seems to bat better left-handed.

He's running to third base. In t-ball, everyone gets to run through the bases -- even if they are out.

Jasmine and Misty made a new friend, Haley, who is Charlie's sister. Charlie is on Alexander's team.

Nathan was very cold and did not enjoy himself. He did, however, enjoy the trip to McDonald's that followed the game.

He threw the bat twice before hitting the ball. I think his hands were too cold to hold onto it.

He left the Parent Pyramid crying as having a bunch of strangers shouting things like, "Go Sharks" scared him.

We left the game before meeting with the coach and getting the snack because it was freezing and instead headed to McDonalds for hot chocolate. Hopefully, it will be warmer next week.

Makeover Madness

Union Hill had a girls night out called "Makeover Madness" hosted by the third grade teachers and with special help from the fifth grade girls. They had their nails painted, their hair and makeup done, learned a cheer and did other girly things. She rode up to the school with her friend, Karen, from next door. The first pictures are her waiting outside ready to go.

I picked the girls up. It was freezing outside. The temperature dropped 20 degrees during the time of the party.


They decided to keep warm by sitting together under a blanket. You can see Karen's gift bag. They were excited that they got 3 tubes of chapstick and a gift bag in addition to all the fun they had.

Jasmine is showing off her nails, makeup and hair. They fixed her hair like Princess Leia, but it has fallen a little. All in all a great night. :)

Alexander's T-ball Practice

Alexander had his first T-ball practice. :)

He received his jersey and cap! He was so very excited.

He wanted to wear it the next day, too.

Hail

It hailed today! It looked like it was snowing and was really pretty.

Hiking

Alexander stayed the night with Martine, so we took Jasmine and Nathan hiking at Walnut Creek Park. It's one of the nice things about Austin -- we can spend more time actually hiking than driving to the place to hike.


Nathan mostly enjoyed going off of the main path to play with the trees and the plants.



Jasmine preferred to stay on the path, but she loved crossing the river anytime we came to it.

Sea World

We started our day at the Dolphin cove.

We're waiting for the scuba diver to feed the sting rays. This was the part where he was patient. Unfortunately, it didn't last through the presentation.

The kids had fun playing on the rocks. It may not be very sea worldy, but it was fun.

A nice picture in front of the fountain. It was also the last picture of this stroller as it was stolen shortly thereafter. :( I even saw it later, but my memory is horrible, and Christophe convinced me that it wasn't ours. If only we had remembered we took this picture! Oh, well. If you take a stroller to Sea World, I would suggest you close it up if you leave it outside a show. It'll make it more difficult to steal.

Big Bird's Beach Party was in town, and the kids loved it. There was a lot of singing and dancing. :)

Nathan was among the most enthusiastic. Lately, he has been reading a Sesame Street book every night at bedtime, so he was very excited.


Jasmine and I went to be splashed. The first time, she was standing in front of me and blocked me from most of the water. So, the second time, she wanted me to stand in front of her. The nice mom I am, at the last minute I turned her into the water. :) It was fun.

Nathan has a fascination with hats, so the popcorn bucket made for a fun toy.

At dinner, the kids thought it was fun to play the "Hug Daddy" game. I think they all had a good time. :) We went to see the Shamu show, Believe, after dinner. Then we called it a day and headed home.

We finally put the new tubes in Jasmine's tires, so it was time to learn to ride a bike. By the end of the day, she could ride by herself. She didn't feel confident enough to start by herself, but is feeling more comfortable on the bike. The pictures are mostly her cheering section. Alan and Karen were also on their bikes encouraging her. Christophe is behind the camera with Alex and Nathan. Earlier, before the kids came out, a couple of the neighbors we don't know very well clapped for her the first time she rode by herself. We have great neighbors. :)
