Snow Ice Cream

We made snow ice cream after dinner. The kids all collected snow, but we mostly used Jasmine's since it didn't have the extra dirt and grass that others had.

We added sugar and vanilla and food coloring (red + blue).

Our milk was expired, so here is the colorful mess while we waited for the kids to run next door and borrow some milk.

We're breaking ice clumps and adding milk. Yea, ice cream!

Jasmine and Nathan added some chocolate syrup. Yummy.

Very happy boys.

SNOW -- Part 2

When the neighborhood kids came home from school, there was quite the snowball fight and plenty of running around. (Jasmine is in the pink coat and Alex is in the blue coat with the red hood.)

Christophe came home later. The kids are showing him Sam the snowman.

Then we made Sam a set of parents. This is Daddy complete with Christophe's hat.

Christophe didn't want to leave his hat out in the snow, so Daddy snow man gladly accepted Alex's Darth Vader hat as a substitute.

SNOW!!!

It is actually snowing and accumulating! We are so excited! This is after they had been out playing for a while...we had to charge the camera.

This is our snow man, Sam. They added some spaghetti hair later.

We went in to get warm, and then hung out in the garage with some hot chocolate watching the snow.

More to come....we just got a recipe for snow ice cream. :)

Daddy - Daughter Dance

Round Rock held its annual Father-Daughter dance this evening. Christophe and Jasmine had a great time.

Mock Surgery

Evidently, Seton hosptal has an annual mock surgery day where they invite the public to come learn more about what they do. I was incredibly impressed at the versatility of their demonstration. There were kids in strollers and high school kids there for extra credit, and both groups were well educated and entertained. Oh, and it is all free. We'll definitely bring the boys back with us next year, though it was nice to have a few hours to spend with just mother and daughter.

First, we had to put on a mask, hair net, and shoe covers. Then we began the tour.

There were 3 or 4 different instruments that they let the children try out. They had a box with candy in it, and the kids watched the camera and used the tool to try to get a piece of candy out. It is harder than it looks, but Jasmine did great.

This is a machine that shows where your veins are. It was developed by the federal government for airport screening a couple of years ago, and the medical field grabbed it for the ER. Did you know that everyone's veins are layed out in a different way? They are as individual as your fingerprints.

This is our certificate of completion. After two hours, you really feel like you earned it.
