We decided not to evacuate for Hurricane Ike against my mother's wishes. The hurricane was supposed to hit Friday night, so we slept in our oversized closet. It was the only room aside from the bathroom with no windows. The kids thought it was awesome. We lost power for a day or so. It was long enough to be fun.

This was Christophe's first hurricane, so he wanted a good hurricane picture. This was the next morning, so the hurricane had mostly already passed. However, it was still raining..so technically there was still some hurricane left.

The kids enjoyed no electricity. They played and read roasted marshmallows over a candle. Of courses, if this had lasted two weeks I'm sure it would have quickly lost it's charm.
Our cell phones worked well throughout the storm and the aftermath. Go Verizon!
