The Ugandan Orphan Choir tours the US for 9 months at a time as their primary advertising for Childcare Worldwide. They are an organization that tries to help children that have no other source of help. If you were ever considering sponsoring a child, but did not trust the tv advertisements, this is an excellent organization. They are very careful with their money and at least 95% of your $35 a month goes directly to the child whom you are sponsoring. This covers their education from elementary through high school and a trade school, food, housing, clothes, etc. Here is their website:

One of their ways of saving money during their tour is to stay with host families as they travel. We have hosted them twice. The first time at the end of June we were the "day off" home, so we had only the adults. Vicki, Susan and Alex stayed with then. The second time in mid July we had Jamil, Vicki, Susan and Aisha stay with us.

This is Susan. Susan is new to Childcare World wide, and she is an assistant to the US coordinator for the tour, Tori. Susan is from Washington state and she has a very hard job.

This is Vicki with Christophe, Jasmine and Alexander. She is also from Uganda and this is her first time to tour with the choir and her first time in the US. She is a teacher for them. Vicki is a very interesting person to talk to. We introduced her to kiwi, which she enjoyed and brownies, which she did not enjoy.

This is Alex surrounded by some of the children. He is from Uganda and will be getting married in December. Alex toured with the choir as a member when he was younger, and now he is the director. Alex soundly beat Christophe and I at Upwords. It wasn't pretty.

This is Jamil. Jamil is 25 and he is the choir director. He plays the instruments and teaches the kids the songs and choreography. He is also fascinating to talk to. Jamil is from Uganda and this is his first tour with the choir and his first time to the US.

This is Vicki with Susan and Aisha at the duck pond. Christophe and Jasmine walked with them down there. Aisha was fast enough to grab one of the duck's wings, and could have caught the duck if she wanted to. Jasmine and Susan enjoyed playing with each other when they met during the first visit, so we were excited to have her stay with us during the second visit.
